In 2007, after attaining my A.S. in Civil Structural Engineering Technology, I began working with the J. F. Ahern Co. as a Fire Sprinkler Design Intern. I thoroughly enjoyed the role; the unique nature of each project, fast paced environment, and the requirement for attention to detail suited me well. Over my career I have held multiple design positions, ran a design department as a Design Manager, and facilitated the companies New Designer Training course. I have had the opportunity to be exposed to many aspects of the industry including preplanning, estimating, project management, project financials, value engineering, hazard/risk assessment, and labor coordination. This exposure allows me to factor in multiple aspects into design decisions, typically resulting in a more well-rounded system design. I have been NICET Certified since 2009, and currently hold NICET Level IV certification. I am also a licensed Designer of Engineering Systems in the state of Wisconsin since 2018.

During Christmas break in 2005 of my sophomore year at college, I decided to help my neighbor who owned his own fire sprinkler company. By the end of sophomore year, I had decided that college was no longer the route for me. I joined the apprenticeship and began working in the field. Over the next five years I was able to gain a vast amount of knowledge and skill in the fire sprinkler trade. Unfortunately, these years were during a tough economical time, I spent a lot of that time traveling and building hotels all over the Midwest. In 2011 I decided to go back to you UW-STOUT and finish my BS in Packaging. After graduating in 2015 I worked in NE Minneapolis as a Mechanical Engineer. In 2016 I began my design career at the J.F. Ahern Company. Being able to apply my field experience with my technical skills and project management made for a great fit. In 2019 I moved to General Sprinkler Corporation and became the design manager where I was able gain more experience running the design department. I have been NICET Certified since 2017 and currently hold my NICET Level III certification.
